6/22/2010 – Destination Pea Ridge, AR
Slept in this morning and it felt good.
Today we will travel to a cousin's home in Pea Ridge, AR. Pea
Ridge is just north of Bentonville, headquarters for Wal-Mart. We
headed to northern Tennessee where we crossed the Mississippi River
into Missouri. The landscape is much different in Missouri. There
were fields as far as the eye can see
flat. From Missouri we will cross into eastern Arkansas where the
land was just as flat as Missouri. As we neared the center of the
state the landscape started to change. We were back in the
mountains. This time we were in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. We
crossed Norfork Lake on route 412 which is a lake in the Ozarks that
has nice mountain views. We also went through Eureka Springs which
is a nice little town with an abundance of hotels, motels, and bed
and breakfasts. We didn't know this when traveling through the
Ozarks but after a history lesson from our cousin we now know that
the Ozarks is home to the KKK.
