6/20/2010 – Chattanooga, TN
We departed the campground just a
little after 8:00 a.m. We traveled on route 64 through the Cherokee
National forest en route to Chattanooga, TN. On our way we saw
several groups of people that were white water rafting down the river
that paralleled route 64 in southwestern North Carolina. There were
groups of people loaded onto school busses with rafts on top headed
to and from a rafting trip
day and try the white water rafting.
Once we arrived in Chattanooga at 2:00
p.m., we located the Tennessee Aquarium and spent the afternoon
touring the two 3 story buildings that make up the aquarium. This is
by far the largest aquarium that we have had the chance to tour. Our
tour lasted for 4 hours. Upon our departure we treated ourselves to
some Moon Pies from a downtown Moon Pie shop.
We decided to camp at a state park just
across the border in Georgia for the night. We didn't have any
problem getting a campsite at Cloudland Canyon State Park. Now we
can get some much needed rest for the next leg of this adventure.
