We got some great pictures of iguanas today. A lot of them are multi-colored grey and brown so they blend into the rocks or they are bright green so they blend into the grass. There are a ton of them hanging out by the pond next to our villa. Don’t worry though, I made myself put down the camera after a while so I won’t bore you too terribly with hundreds of shots of the same iguana in different poses. They are cool though. I was told that our resident patio visitors for the day included more cats, a skunk and two raccoons. And we are upstairs so they have to really want to come visit us. Needless to say, I was glad I wasn’t here to enjoy their company.
Oh and just a tip for you ladies out there who might be taking a tropical vacation. Make sure you cut your bangs really short before coming. What I wouldn’t give for a pair of scissors right now, because with the humidity my hair just keeps falling in my eyes. I would even resort to using a machete if I could find one. That probably isn’t too far-fetched for me to find one in Costa Rica.
The rest of the afternoon was spent lounging by the pool. At least for me. Others were otherwise occupied. One was getting a massage on the beach, one was hanging out with the cute resort doctor and one was hanging out in the villa. We all met up at the pool and although we had placed bets on when the rain was going to start coming down, based on the black clouds overhead at lunch, it had bypassed us so far. Well, by early evening it decided to show its face but fortunately we made it back to the villa before it started pouring. The rain did not last too long and then we headed out to explore before having dinner. We had the same waiter Norman for our dinner at the Italian restaurant. Apparently they just work at whatever restaurant is open at the time so you can have the same guy for two meals at two different restaurants. He treated us well and kept bringing us samples of his favorite food which was fun. By the end of the evening he was showing us pictures of his kids and I think he would have joined us for dinner if he could. We did not get seated at dinner until 9:00 p.m. so by the time we got done, we had lost our enthusiasm for roaming around anymore and just decided to come back to the villa. I guess going to bed at 12:30 a.m. isn’t too early though…..
