Now the question is: Should I sleep? My body replies in the affirmative. I have a busy day tomorrow. Last minute packing, final inspirations of things without which I think I can't live. Meeting Patrick at 11 for brunch. Eddie in the afternoon, maybe Jay in the afternoon, too. Then tennis with Eli. And of course, all other time with my mom and dog
I'm really excited, though. A little sad, but very excited. I'll be leaving people behind: my mom, Judo (my dog, for those of you who don't have the good fortune of knowing him), my friends, Eddie. Most of you will be here when I come back though, so it's only a hollow sadness, one that will disappear with the buildings and cars and people as my plane ascends toward the Pacific sky. It's more than just my first trip out of the country, more than a pilgrimage to the nation of my biological roots. I can't express in words what it is, though. Maybe the words will come to me as I venture into these places.
Packed, tired, and excited, I suppose I'll stumble off to bed. I'll probably manage one entry before I leave for the airport on Wednesday, and perhaps even one for tomorrow (departure's eve). And after that, who knows?
