On Sunday, a group of six of us went to a Spanish mass at St. Paul's, a local church about a mile from MACC. One of our group, Fr. Martin, is a priest from Mexico. After mass, he told us that the deacon is from Spain, not Mexico. Fr. Martin could tell from the deacon's accent when he read the Gospel. I followed along with the mass because I brought along my bilingual prayer guide. I was able to pick up some of the priests's homily, but not every word.

Feeling the need to see a movie, I went to see "Nacho Libre" with Jack Black. I give it thumbs up. I laughed many times and I even understood the occasional Spanish.

Following the movie, I returned to MACC to catch the second half of the World Cup final. Only three other people were in the television lounge.

Later on, Chuck and I went to see the San Antonio Missions play the Midland Rockhounds at a stadium only a fifteen minute drive from MACC. The Missions are a Seattle team and the Rockhounds are an Oakland team. The Missions won 5-4 in eleven innings. The game started at 6:05 PM and ended at 10:20 PM. It was either a great game or a horrible game depending on your point of view. The teams combined for seventeen hits, nine errors, and used nine pitchers. The stadium announcer was the most laid back announcer I have ever heard. "Take Five" played over the P.A. system during the pre-game announcements. Overall, a fun time at a nice ballpark. We sat right behind home plate for only seven dollars. The stadium was pretty empty. They claim they had 3,000, but I don't think they had that many.

In other news, I have a new suite mate. The deacon from Minnesota left on Friday. My new next door neighbor is a young Mexican who is here to learn English. Overall, eleven people left on Friday and twenty new people arrived over the weekend.
