Next up was a ten-minute walk to the Parker Road station of the DART light rail for a train ride into Dallas. The trains are quite clean. I experienced some excitement when a DART policewoman boarded the train and asked to see tickets. She gave a homeless person a bit of a hassle and yanked him off the train at the next stop.
I traveled all the way to Union Station in downtown Dallas and walked to the visitor info center near the Sixth Floor Museum. I was trying to find a bus tour of Dallas. The volunteer in the info center confirmed that there are no bus tours of Dallas.
From there it was off to the Sixth Floor Museum. I sprang for the audio tour which I am glad I did. The displays were quite fascinating. I then visited the grassy knoll, but did not find any new evidence.
Next, I took the train back across town a few stops to make a shorter walk to the Dallas Museum of Art. The museum is nice, but the layout is quite confusing. I started on the fourth level then moved down to the third. However, I could not get to the second level from the side that I was on, so I had to walk back up to the fourth level and walk down to the third level on the other side of the museum. Too much work.
From the museum, I hopped on the free McKinney Street trolley for a fun ride through Uptown and the West Village. I hopped off at one point to have a delicious slice of veggie pizza at LA Gourmet Pizza.
After the trolley returned to the museum, I hopped off and headed to the Cathedral Santuario de Guadelupe where Tony is to be ordained. The cathedral is beautiful.
I then hopped the train back to Union Station and walked to Reunion Tower to go up to the observation deck (only 50 stories up)
From Reunion Tower, it was off to the Conspiracy Museum. A bit of a rip off if you ask me. You do not get to see too much, especially for the money they charge.
Having done all that I could do in one day, I took the train back to Plano.
Now it was time for a short drive for dinner with the Miller family, only 5.08 miles from the hotel according to Mapquest. I had a fun visit with Jackie, Jeff, Ryan, Kristin, and Shannon. After spending a few hours getting caught up to date, I headed back to the hotel to crash.
I'm still a little "off" due to the time difference.
