Well, I am typing this blog in a water park in South Dakota, getting to this hotel/water park was a nightmare, (I will get back to that story in a while.) First I will tell you all about Denver. We left Santa Fe after dropping Natalie off in town and the ride was great, girls were well beheaved, subway for lunch, movies and Radio Disney on route. We arrived in Denver around seven thiry, pulled into the downtown Hyatt and they said Hi welcome to the Hyatt, we have two parking choice for you self park for $24 or valet for $26. Okay now my $98 dollar room just went up to $130 thats ok!!!! We check into this super duper fancy hotel. The room is really nice, very fancy flat screen tv $6 bottles of water AHHHH!!! and almost $2 for a school lunch sized milk, good job we stopped at Walmart before arriving. We went to swim in the very fancy lap pool until 10.00 and then we were hungry so we ordered pizza to be delivered. When the pizza man arrived they would not let him come to our room, (for security reasons) so it was a toss up between debbie in her sponge bob PJ's or me in my swingy pants and a tank to walk through the lobby to get the pizza. I went and have never felt so under dressed in my life. There were weddings going on in the bar, everyone was dressed to the nines. So any way enough about this hotel, needless to say we cancelled our second night there and stayed in a great La Quinta in Louisville just outside of Boulder, Co. Boulder and the Rocky Mountains were amazing. As you can see from the pictures we climbed up the side of a mountain, well technically the car did all of the climing. (Sorry Amy and Michael no hiking for us) If Ellie would wear anything else but flip flops we might have hiked a little) After going up the mountain, and playing in the ampitheater we headed back into Boulder for an Asian festival. That was fun and as you can see from the pictures Juliet had a blast getting wet again!!!! Ok so after a great steak dinner in Louisville we called it a night knowing that the next days journey was going to be a long one. We just did not know how long!!!!! So we woke up in Louisville, swam for a couple of hours and headed out around one oclock, we knew the drive was 407 miles about six hours before stops. We were driving along and Debbie and I were getting tired of only seeing the elevation on the GPS, after reading the manual we could not figure out how to get it back to the other information like time remaining, miles to destination etc. So we quickly turned it on and off and that worked. However, as soon as we turned it back on it told us that we were supposed to get off on to this small side road. We both looked at each other and said no way, we have not been on the interstate long enough, well to cut a long story short, (no pun intended) we ended up going two hundred miles out of our way to stay on what we thought was a busy interstate. I have never been on a more desolate road in my life. There was nothing to see for 100 miles all around and we really were the only car for miles. Every now and again we passed a 16 wheeler. So we are about 100 miles from Rapid City, the girls are being amazing watching a movie, Deb was on the computer in the front, and I am just starting to feel comfortable driving in pitch blackness. When all of a sudden I see three giant Elk stepping out onto the highway, it was so surreal, I just very calmly swerved aroudf them and carry on. If I had been five seconds later, I would have hit at least one of them without a doubt. It does not bear thinking about. So we arrived in Rapid City at eleven oclock pm, 3 hours late and exhausted. Everyone went to sleep. I was still a little wired and even as I was sleeping I felt like I was still driving. Okay I know this was not a very interesting blog to read. Next will be our Rapid City, (Mount Rushmore, Bear Country, and Crazy Hourse) entry. Heading out for breakfast and then off to Sioux Falls, SD. Lets see if we can make it in the right time. It is a straight road mum!!!!!
