WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!
Oh my God, this is unbelievably hard. SO much climbing. Up and up, there's no end! I feel like it's the first couple days of the trek again. And a Nepali person called me fat again!
Matt and I had been climbing and climbing and we finally came to a little village. Matt stopped to wait for me by a little tea shop where he stood talking with a teenaged boy
Smiling wide, he looked at me and said, "Yes, and you are very fat!"
Fucking hell. It is JUST like I've gone back to the beginning of the trek. Suddenly I'm out of shape and fat again.
It's 12:10 p.m.. I'm soaked because of sweat, freezing because of the weather, it's raining, and we're only halfway there both in distance and elevation.
I'm such an idiot.
(Later)
What an incredibly fucking hard day. Almost 10 hours of climbing almost 1.7 kilometres of altitude. So tired.
I've discovered if they ever make a movie out of my life, the soundtrack will be taken from Rocky films, Top Gun, and any movie starring Ralph Macchio and Anthony Michael Hall (if you know them, you grew up in the 80s and are a geek like me)
As I sat eating breakfast this morning, Foreigner's "Final Countdown" was blasting in my head. A montage of images flashed through my mind in time with the music - jet fighters being waved out onto the flight decks of aircraft carriers, men sitting behind banks of flashing lights and computers speaking urgently into earphones, a boxer warming up in his dressing room, and cut to me - eating my eggs and toast. As I finished and started to strap on my pack, Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" began playing.
Sadly this was a case of buy the soundtrack, skip the movie.

. As I walked up, I ran a hand through my sweat soaked hair and wiped my face. Seeing him watching me, I said "It's really hot."Smiling wide, he looked at me and said, "Yes, and you are very fat!"

. As much as I like to wear my musical hipness on my sleeve, in times of stress or intensity, I'm pure 80's cheese. As I sat eating breakfast this morning, Foreigner's "Final Countdown" was blasting in my head.
