There was a time in South Asia when sex was public and celebrated. When looking at the erotic carvings of India, it is hard to reconcile that time and place with the conservative attitudes that hold sway now. Much of the same culture almost was present in Nepal, and within the Kathmandu Valley, there are many examples of these brazen, unabashedly sexual attitudes. Adorning the struts of many temples are carvings from wood or stone of people (and even animals) engaged in some remarkable (and sometimes confusing) sexual acts.

This entry is to simply provide those of you who wish (and you know who you are) the opportunity to view examples of this type of art. And before the emails come flying in, it's art, people!

Oh, and if anyone can figure out what the dwarf with the bowl is doing, please let me know. I have theories, but all disturbing. For those of you so inclined, find what inspiration there is to be found. I am not liable for any physical injury, emotional trauma, or lawsuits that may follow.
