After a month of running around northern India and putting up with me, it was time for Danayi to fly home.

She was a great travel companion, and frankly, handled the racist elements we ran across better than me. I suppose it's my nature to be protective of people I care for. To her credit, she wants to return to India. She loves Indian culture, Indian music, Indian dancing, Bollywood, and Indian food. It was just Indians themselves that seemed to be the problem far too often.

I suppose that in a country of over a billion people, there are going to be huge numbers of assholes, as much as there will be huge numbers of open minded, kind, tolerant people. It's too bad we met so many of the former, and few of the latter.

To my Indian friends, I still like you all very much, don't worry.
