Jodhpur was a whistle stop, considering the normal way I travel. We were there for only a few nights. It is known as the Blue City for the colour of many of the houses in the old part of town. Lording over the city is the massive fortress that dominates the skyline. This fortress is the stuff of fantasies and drama. If you sit on a rooftop during the Muezzin´s call to prayer while staring at this ancient behemoth and are not moved to fantasies of sieges, tales of princesses and maharajas, and 1001 Arabian Nights (well, a Rajasthani version a few thousand kilometers east), well, you have no soul.
