Hello Everyone,
I've finally started to try and catch up with the last month and a half of travel. Most of the entries still need to be typed up, but I've uploaded what photos I could so at least there is something to look at.
You might notice a new option when you read my blog. There is the option to "support" me in my travels. Money is beginning to get tight out here, and I've a plane ticket to pay for in a couple of weeks to either Pakistan or India.
This is the thing: I hate begging. Frankly, there are a hell of a lot better causes and organizations to give your money to. In fact, should you feel the desire to support one and do some good, let me know and I can recommend some very good ones that I know personally from my time in Africa.
I do, however, believe in the idea of a reciprocal trade. Or something for something. That is why I'd like to make the following offer. Peruse the website at your leisure. As you probably realize, I'm passionate about my photography. I've been told I can occasionally take a pretty good shot. If you come across a shot that strikes you, a shot that makes you say "wow", a shot that makes you believe life is worth living again :) then let me know.
I will make you a high quality print in either 6x8, 6x9, 8x10, or 8x12 (that's imperial to my metric friends) and send it to you wherever in the world you are from wherever in the world I am. I will sign it, and write a note that gives some explanation or back story to the shot.
I will do this for free.
Should you like it, I ask you give me a donation for whatever you think it's worth. If you think it's crap, well, it's a free photograph nonetheless. Should you think it's genius, well, come up with a number you think is appropriate.
How can I do this, you ask? (Well, I ask, but pretending to be you). Well, the button leads you to a website called PayPal. PayPal is a pioneer of online banking and purchasing. They are known for being one of the most secure and safe sites on the internet. You must sign up, and then it will allow you to make a donation to my account via credit card. I can then transfer that money to my account in Canada, take it out at the corner ATM in Katmandu, and eat that night.
If you don't have a credit card, or are uncomfortable with the idea of using it, contact me. I can give you my family's address in Canada, and you can send a cheque or whatever works best for you.
Again, I don't like the idea of begging, but I don't think this is doing so. If you have enjoyed the site and writing; if you like some of the photos and wouldn't mind a copy, then I will gladly send you a photo. And I mean it when I say donate only what you want. You want a free photo? That's ok too, but do try to remember the rule of karma.
Try to be specific if you find a photo you like - give the name, the entry it is under, any numbering it might have. Please also specify what size you would like. I will do my best to get it in the mail to you as soon as I can.
Either way, I hope you will continue to read the site and enjoy it. I love hearing from everyone when on the road.
All my best and safe journeys everyone!

A wee contribution on its way

I have made a modest contribution via the PAYPAL system, very good method to anyone reading this,if E-BAY swears by it,its good enough for us. I stuck a note on the PP site, saying something I reckon you should think about. Although we have never met and probably never will I have enjoyed reading your exploits which I first zoned onto when an article of yours hit the ZIMBABWE SITUATION.COM site.I am familiar with this part of the world so took an interest. I digress........ why not stick articles in outfits like Lonely planet or other travel magazines websites , newspapers and be paid for it. Your pieces make good easy fluidic reading, far better than a great many travel writers and articles I have read. Your piece on Darfur illustrates my point here. Photos are great, really liked Namibian ones!
Anyway it's an idle thought which you have probably explored anyway. I hope the $100 at least gets you a curried rat entree with coriander ricemeal or 2, in any event have a dram on me.
All the best from North Scotland.
