Dahab, Egypt. Entering Egypt was even crazier than leaving Jordan. When we arrived, everyone crammed into buses to be taken to the luggage area. Once there, I learned I couldn't go through customs until I bought visa stamps from one of the many bank offices around the compound. All of which were closed, except one, and it didn't sell the stamps. Of course it didn't. After an hour wait, a bank employee showed up, the stamps were bought, and customs cleared. One good thing about the wait was I was able to convince a group of five, also waiting, Japanese guys to share a taxi to Dahab, and away we went.

Dahab was five days of relaxing, sitting by the ocean, eating, drinking, and smoking sheeshah. It is right on the Red Sea (of Charleton Heston fame, I mean Moses) on the Sinai Peninsula. This is Old Testament land in a big way with the burning bush, and 10 Commandments mountain visitable tourist sites. I did not make it. Perhaps another time.

I wish I had dove while in Dahab. The Red Sea is supposed to be one of the most spectacular diving sites in the world, and Dahab is supposed to be one of the cheapest places to do it. I've lost my certification dive card, and my only options were to do an intro dive (baby dive in 8-10 metres of water in the worst place) or take my open water all over again. To be honest, I should have just taken the course again. It's been years since I dove, Dahab would have been a cheap place to recertify. Oh well.
