After three relaxing days in St Lucia we headed towards Chintsa which is located farther down the coast and is reputed to be a beautiful beach area. On the way to Chintsa we drove through the interior of Soutn Africa which was very African in flavor. South Africa is a country of diversity. Some towns seem very white and very European and others very black and very African (Durban is very East Indian but we did not go there). As night fell we could hear the sounds of African music and markets as we drove through towns. We arrived in Chintsa late and checked into the hostel - once again we were given our own cottage. We went to bed late and woke up expecting to go to the beach the next day. Instead we woke up to buckets of rain and weater that looked like Vancouver in fall. So we decided to head to Cape Town a day early. We packed up the car and after twelve hours of driving arrived in Mossel Bay where the hostel is located in a renovated train on the beach. We rented an ensuite room (essentally one train car). The decor and ambience of our room and the whole train was unbelievably cute. Our room had a balcony overlooking the beach. Unfortunately it was also cold. It is winter here and the beach towns on the Cape are breezy and cold. No central heating in any building. Fortunately the hostel supplied lots of blankets. In the morning we got up and dressed very quickly and were on our way. Our next entry will be from Cape Town were we will spend four days before flying to London and then Delhi.
