I really must be trying to catch my breath from Barcelona because I really haven't done much today.   All I did was went to class...for dinner, they served us some friend ham thing with ceballos (onions)...it was really gross.  So, we ordered Duomo Pizza tonight.  It was FABULOUS!  I'm so glad we did it.  Then, after the pizza, I just hung out with the ladies and talked until the wee hours of the morning.  That seems like all I do...

Rather, for my journal entry today, I thought I'd talk about some things that I've noticed here that are just different than the states...

Wedding Rings - I have yet to see a diamond ring on a woman; I'm not quite sure why.  Maybe we're just flashy in the states but ladies don't seem to wear them here.  And, while talking about wedding rings, they're usually worn on the Right Ring Finger rather than the left.  When I asked about it, I hear that it's really a personal preference, there are no pagan traditions like we have in the US, but typically, I see just a single band on a right hand.

Jamon - I've already talked about the ham...it's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - and for all hours in between.  I've even had fried breaded ham... It's really a staple here.

Bebidas (Drinks) - Oh my goodness what I would kill for a mix-in right about now.  Tap water for breakfast, tap water for lunch, tap water for dinner.  And it's not like it's on the table for us already, we have to take a pitcher up to the sink, turn on the faucet and put the water in there before we pour our drinks.  Yucky!  For breakfast, we have a choice to get Pina juice - it's the most flavor I have in a day.  I can't even stand pineapples, but I'm drinking it!

Names - Everyone takes the name of their father and mother and their names do not change upon marriage.  For example, my Dad's last name is Murray and my Mom's maiden name is Weller.  Therefore, if I was Spanish, my full name would be Kelli Anne Murray Weller.  My Dad's name would be David Randolph Murray Johnston (Grandma Beryl's Maiden Name) and Mom's name would be Nancy Jean Weller Fong-Yee (Granny Phyl's Maiden Name).  Upon marriage, Mom would never have the name Murray.  So, in one household, the only people to share the same "surname" would be Traci & I.  So much culture...why are we so boring in America?
