Two long days on the road we are finally in our reserved park in Mesa.  The drive through California was long. The view was unchanging for the most part with miles and miles of flat country, mostly agricultural.  Lots of orchards and vineyards with an occasional feed lot thrown in to awake you senses.

As we got closer to Arizona the view changed to just desert.  The drive through the Mojave was really windy and we spent more time on the side of the road waiting for the wind to let up than driving.  We finally made it to Lake Havasu which is a great oasis.  We spent most of a day here just sitting in the Wal Mart lot waiting for the wind to stop.  On Thursday the winds finally died down and we were able to get back on the road.  Unfortunately something went wrong with the brake buddy in the car so we had to do the last day with only the coach brakes.  The drive from Lake Havasu to Mesa was beautiful.  We got on a back road that was all hay fields and really green.

Unfortunately we got to the Phoenix area right at rush hour and that was hair raising.  Driving this rig with the car in tow has been easier than I anticipated but is really nerve racking when in the middle of the freeway rush hour.  Luck was with us I guess as we only had one occasion where we had to stand on the brakes - I would have liked to have the car brakes then.

We got to the RV park after dark but finally got parked.  The park is small and a little tight with not much private room outside but is centrally located and quiet so I think it will be fine.

We have a big weekend coming up.  Tonight is the Tina Turner concert that we have been looking forward to for months.  It does seem strange to have to plan for an hour and a half drive in town to get to the arena - smashes small town habits of leaving 5 minutes before you need to be there.

We are going north this weekend with Brandt and Willow to go camping and look around Prescott and Sadona.  We will be staying at the Dead Horse Ranch state park.  I will try to get some good pictures to send out next week.

Rascal is bugging me to go for a walk (he is really confused by the lack of grass and the cactus) so will get back next week.
