Apologies to all Monday morning travel blog addicts. There is no Internet on Fraser Island. Now that the formalities are out of the way let me now inform and educate are dedicated readers about Brisbane. First up, we arrived by overnight train from Sydney (14 hours!). One of the longest and eventful nights we have had so far. Long story short, one very drunk and doped out fellow passenger who had to be carted off half way through the journey by paramedics. We also had a delightful hippie chick, who knew absolutely everything about everything about everything and let everybody know it, and her two delightful, full of energy children! We were very tired folks upon arrival into Brisbane. Once there, we were greeted by a very drunk aboriginal gentleman, who after we denied to make a donation to his charitable cause, called us "cants" and "fooking cooksuckers". Hello to you too Brisbane!
Our impressions of Brisbane would be that its a rougher version of Sydney and Melbourne, but still definitely entertaining. One highlight, before Anne denies it, is that a koala shit on her hand and we have a professional photo to prove it! We went to a place called Lone Pine sanctuary and saw kangaroos, tassie devils, koalas etc. Anne got to cuddle a koala and may have squeezed to hard. As for the kangaroos, they appear to have no awareness of how they should act in public. I mean we even caught on camera (purely for evidence), one couple at it. They seem to be well designed for it anyhow. I'll not get started on Mr Kanga Rooos equipment.
That night we went to an AFl game at the Gabba. Go on the lions. WE beat the oppo by a couple of goals, so we headed back to our local for a few celebratory pots (Queensland small pints). Our local by the way was situated above our hostel, which made for a very noisy first night in Brisbane, so buoyed by our mega win against the West Coast Eagles we joined in on the noise the second night and so got a less interrupted nights sleep.
Next stop is Hervey Bay for our trip to Fraser Island
