We arrived today into South Island and have made our way down the East coast to Kaikoura.  This town is supposed to be very picturesque but unfortunately we haven't seen much of that yet as it has been raining quite a bit today.  We are supposed to be whale watching tomorrow so hopefully the weather picks up.

As you can see from the blog, we have been travelling around North Island for the last week with our new friend Dirk, the campervan!  Actually, calling him a campervan is a bit glorified as its a Toyota people carrier with the chairs taken out and a mattress put in!  It also holds all our clothes and kitchen accessories as well as our food.  We 're loving the independence of driving around the country thogh and the facilities at the parks are really good (apart from internet that is!!).

North Island was really nice, some beautiful scenery, especially when the sun came out.  Its lovely waking up so close to a beach and going for a walk before hitting the road again.  We were pretty much driving every day but now we have more time in the South Island so we can spread our time out a bit more.  Lots of great wine to sample too...Dirk doubles as a wine cellar as well!

aw Dirk sounds like a right laugh, must be great to be able to just go where the road leads you and all the beaches sound lovely. Thats not to mention the wine....any Marlborough to be had?...mmmm

Hope the weather picks up and you get some sun. Has picked up here today, starting to feel like spring!
