We spent a great 5 days in Monterrey.  A really lovely city, different to what we expected.  Its an industrial town so we expected factories etc but they are all in the suburbs.  The city is suurounded by a beautiful backdrop of mountains that the locals are very proud of and very much represent their city.  However, the best thing about Monterrey was the people we met.  Of course we were in the city to meet my uncle Packie, who took time out of his busy schedule to show us around and entertain us.  It was great to see him and catch up and get to see where he lives and works.  He showed us around his schools and we met lots of his friends along the way.  We had a few crazy journeys with his mental driving, definitely think he has God as his co-pilot!  Plenty of Irish ballads and music pumping from the car helped along with Packies singing!

We stayed with friends of my uncles' called the Garzas for two nights.  They also showed us around the city and surrounding areas, brought us out for dinner and generally gave us an amazing time!  We went to the beautiful lake town of Santiago where Ever has a summer house and had a boat trip around the lake in a boat belonging to Evers' friend Jimmy along with his son also called Jimmy (who also entertained us with their brilliant family band and some great rock and roll!).

All in all, Monterrey as great fun, it was great to meet with a familiar face and be shown such a good time with great people.  Thank you Ever, Laura and all the Garza family!
