The blog doesn't recognise San Cristobal de la Casas,  the town we have used as our base for the last few days. Palenque is the name of the ruins we visited yesterday, another country, another Mayan ruin. These were quite spectacular and we arrived late in the day and got to see it as the sun was starting to set. Palenque is approx 300km from San Cristobal so we had to start quite early yesterday morning. Our first stop was a place called Agua Azul. Amazing blue waters which our pictures don't do any justice to. After that we stopped at a waterfall called Misol Ha but were only given 20 minutes to look at. Considering how hot we were, we needed longer than that as it was an ideal place to go for a dip! Anyhow, back onto the bus, sweaty and a little tired and onto the aforementioned Mayan ruins.
In all, the whole day (15 hours, most of it on a sweaty bus!) was okay but what we will remember from it the most will be the seemingly never ending ramps on the road (300km, at least 300 ramps!) and the fact that we seemed to have picked up an entire mexican band for the trip home! The bus driver had his own personal collection of what I can only assume are Mexicos greatest hits ever, disc one, up full blast for at least three quarters of the journey home. Anne and I had great crack belting out old favourites such as "Aye senorita.." and " Si Senora...". Next stop Oaxaca!
