Saturday, August 26

Headed off this morning for a quick trip to another destination I've only dreamed about - Bali! I arrived mid-day and unfortunately felt horrible! Needless to say, I headed straight to the hotel to sleep for several hours and then headed out to check out the town.

Kuta is a neat little town that stays lively all night. As you might suspect, there are small shops everywhere that have knock-offs of your favorite brands and everything else under the sun.

Sunday, August 27

Today was a very relaxing day on the beach! I spent the morning eating a wonderful buffet breakfast and then sat along the shore reading a book while two jibbering local ladies painted my fingers and toes. Seems these island/remote tourist destinations are all very similar with wonderful and cheap services!

In the afternoon, I did some more exploring and then headed to a great little restaurant I ran across last night. Here, I met a couple of surfers - Olivier and Kenny - who were spending 2-3 months in Bali to enjoy the surf. We spent the rest of the day chatting, eating local food, and exploring the little streets of Kuta.

Monday, August 28

Olivier picked me up this morning in their rental jeep to tour new areas of the island, including Bali Overlook, Uluwatu and Dreamland (? will have to get back on this one). Wow, it was so beautiful! We saw caves, bats, monkeys, beautiful cliffs, even more beautiful beaches, surfer's paradise, and more. It was breathtaking and is by far one of my favorite places so far!
