We walked across the seemingly deserted town to the temple area. The first temple we went into was nice and quiet, with the devout going on about their business in a peaceful way. Inside the bot were shelves and shelves of bric-a-brac, which gave it a curiosity shop sort of feel.
From there we went to another temple next door that appeared to have the Buddha image we were looking for, but we discovered was only a copy. The original was yet to come. Why they felt the need to have two very similar looking Buddhas right next to each other is beyond me, but there it was.
When we got to the correct temple, we knew we were in the right place by the throngs of people filling the building. We fought our way through all the people, found a spot to stand over to the side and stood, amazed at the chaos in front of us.
We spent the rest of the day wandering around the empty town before walking about 2k out to the bus station for our bus to Sukhothai.
When we got into Sukhothai we were greeted by a really nice taxi driver who helped us find and get to a place to stay for the night.
