Flag of Switzerland  , Swiss Alps,
Tuesday, September 9, 2008

So now we're done with the big cities, only small villages and medium sized cities left. Departing Paris was bittersweet but okay. We now departed for Switzerland, the country of cheese, chocolate, and eat your heart out views. The travel was a whole day, arrival just in time for dinner. Our last stop in France was a rest stop near Dijon. Going through Besancon, France, the crossing into Switzerland, then stopping again, the views dramatically changed. Though we weren't in the Alps yet, I knew we were close. Going past Lausanne, the headquarters of the IOC, and Montreux on Lake Geneva, the views dramatically changed into the Alpine views we all knew. The village of Crans-Montana was at one point two separate villages, but have pulled off a consolidation and now are one town. My hotel was in the Montana part, near most of the shopping areas, below a bar complete with Roger Federer at Wimbledon and the Euro Cup.  Dinner was at the hotel, then we had the town to discover for the rest of the night. If you want amazing mountain views and high end shopping, then come to Crans-Montana
