Today we did a small hike to the top of the island. There are people who live on the island. The locals were glad to see us walk through their property and wave hello. Along the way, we would stop to chat briefly to the kids.

The rest of the day was spent reading and yapping with the girls by the water. It wasn't such a bad deal for me, being surrounded by girls in bikinis. Unfortunately, the 3 Aussies left later that day. I really enjoyed their company.

There were absolutely no other travellers other than Lynsey and I on the island.  It may be the only time in my life that I come this close to being the only traveller on an island. There wasn't much to do so Lynsey and I just spent the night watching the movie "The Departed". The people working at the hostel enjoy it when the tourists order a movie as it gives them a chance to watch them also. About 4 workers joined us for the movie which was shown on a projector screen in a small room.

On another note, I just wanted to mention that the hostel we stayed at only used solar power. I thought that was cool. Given the rising cost of energy, it was smart that they decided to go the solar power route.

Before I end this update, I want to describe the toilets here. They are actually compost toilets. Basically, its this little hut with a hole in the middle of the ground. A toilet seat is provided but I think it serves no purpose. I just toss it aside and squat. You look down the whole and you see a small mountain of crap and toilet paper. I am not sure how the crap gets separated from the urine but apparently it does. It's interesting and gross at the same time. I thought I would share that with you.
