Where I stayed
The first three trains were pretty uneventful. On our fourth train we were approached by an African guy who asked us if he could jump on our ticket.
“Where's your ticket?” Dino asked.
“I haven't got one.” Was his reply.
He just looked at Dino like 'Are you mad.
“OK mate. No problems.”
A few seconds later a druggie asked the same thing
The conductor gave Dino a bemused look when he indicated the travelling party of two backpackers, an African guy with no luggage, a drinking druggie and a lady from god knows where. None the less she stamped our ticket and was on her way.
When we finally made it to our destination, Berlin, nearly 10 hours after setting off, we probably would have been bemused by a station with more than two platforms. What awaited us at Berlin's Hauptbahnhof was mind numbing. You could see four floors up to the glass domed ceiling through a maze of escalators and mezzanine's. We followed S's on signs hoping that is would lead us to our destination. Amazingly within minutes we had found what we were looking for. The S-bahn platforms and the information centre next door, which informed us that our €37 ticket was even valid on the local lines. How Great?
Welcome To Berlin!
