We are liking Germany so much we want to spend more time here, so were else to go but the Black Forest, and to compensate the overspend on beer we are going to try to camp. Oh and before you say what the hell about Berlin, we are going to go there eventually it is just a bit far out of the way at the moment since we are heading for Amsterdam.
We decided that one last beer was called for at the Angustiner Keller beer garden, but due to a cold snap and a small amount of rain there was no one to be found there and the whole place was closed
The place was packed not so much with tourists but with locals all crammed on long wooden tables. We sat down, well actually we tried sit to down but then got shown grumpily where to sit, and ordered our favorite beer, the Augustine. We have probably told you before but the Augustine is considered one of Germany's best beers, we must agree.
It was hard to decided but we managed to order some food, only with the assistance of an English menu. Dino got himself half a pork leg, crispy, oh yes really, really crispy. Shona had a giant plate of Cheesy noodle thing with fried onions, a plate so large it was bigger than your face. In hind site one plate could have easily fed the both of us, we struggled to eat it all, but of coarse we still did. This was only possible due to the Litre of beer we had each to wash it down with. All for 23€. By the time we left we were swaying down the street in a merry way. We have now decided that Munich requires a second visit, just once our livers and stomachs have recovered a bit
It's funny the first day upon arriving a Litre of beer seemed like quite a lot after four days of being here a week anything less than a litre just doesn't seem right.
The record for drinking one Litre of beer is 5.3 seconds. We generally take about an hour. It goes without saying we aren't in the competition for the fastest drinkers let alone the record holders. We need much more practice.
As you probably have guessed we changed hostels again that morning. Upon checking into our rooms we were told that was only one set of keys for the whole room, so the last person to leave the room had to leave the key with reception. Unfortunately our room mates did not understand this, as we discovered that afternoon when we returned from our afternoon stroll. We stood outside the door knocking, louder and louder. After a short time we realised that no one was there and returned to reception to find that our room mates had taken the key with them. We had to be escorted to our room, by a key holder. On leaving our room for our beer hall experience, we had to ask the key holder to lock the door for us. Even then still after our little trip to the beer hall, our room mates had not returned and had to be escorted yet again.
We had an early morning train so got up early, only to discover that there was no key in the door. Our room mates were asleep after their late night and the door was locked. We search near their beds but could still no sign of the key. In a dim morning plan we decided to start packing our bags, in the hope that the noise may inadvertently wake them
We had a really nice breakfast and off we went to catch our train to the black forest.
Munich to Freiburg train €134 for the both of us.
