We have finally motivated our lazy little arses to go and see more of the Riviera. Back to Nice we go to actually see it in all its glory. We decided that we should be used to walking up stairs by now, since the campsite training, that we decided to walk up to the remains of Le Chateau, the cities birthplace. There are escalators for 70cents, for those who aren't feeling up to the hike. Le Chateau is now just the remains of the 11th century fort which was destroyed by Louis XIV in 1706. The panoramic views from the top would have even been worth paying the 70cents for, if not more.
The old quarter in Nice have the perfect little French alleys full of unique shops which we love so much, then they open onto squares full of cafes and open air markets. We visited Cours Saleya Market and bought some of the most amazing produce for the cheapest of prices. We have been waiting for peaches like these since we left Australia.
We whittled away the afternoon on the Baie Des Anges, the main beach of Nice, working ferociously on our tans. Shona doesn't scare people anymore with how white she was and Dino has just gone black instantly, the bastard.
