The whole town is like a step back in history. It is surrounded by a moat then enclosed by huge walls that were used for protection. Toledo is also built up on a hill, so the views from certain parts of the city are specatcular
Toledo is very small and easy to see in a day. I arrived there around 2pm on Saturday, and had seen just about everything by the time the last train left to return to Madrid at 9:30pm. I was not on a tour, so unfortunately I don't have as much interesting information about the pictures as I normally would (this may not be disappointing to some of you!).
Oh, one more thing....as much as Toledo is a "must see" for anyone coming to Spain, it is very touristy. I had 2 of the worst meals since I've been in Spain there. As you can see from the pictures, there are alot of outdoor cafes that cater to tourists. I tried to stay away from those that were in the main plaza, but still unfortunately paid 20 Euros for mystery meat and a salad. Although I do have to say, the homemade caramel flan for dessert (came with the meal) was excellent! If I could only survive on wine and desserts....
OK, I have another blog to post with more pictures from my trip to Avila and Segovia that I will get done later today. Have a great day!
