Got across the borders finally. The landscape is pretty much the same as I remembered it from my last trip to the Netherlands and not much different from the german one. I had a bit of trouble with getting a ticket from Monchengladbach to Venlo since the ticket machines there only gave tickets up to the last station before the Netherlands, Kaldenkirchen. After 20 minutes or so and after finding noone to ask for information, I spotted some small text saying that a 2 euro additive ticket was used for the Kaldenkirchen-Venlo route among others so I got my Monchengladback-Kaldenkirchen and Kaldenkirchen-Venlo tickets and hoped I hadn't messed up.
I did the right thing after all and everything went fine.
From Venlo it was only a 20 minute or so train ride to my final destination for the day, Helmond!
