Two water villagesa day was a bit too much on our first Saturday in China. We left Shanghai with Tony our guide and a driver. Toll road for most of the 90-minute drive to Xitang, in Jiashan County, Zhejiang province. Many Chinese groups. The village was enormous shopping outfit, one
kilometre long two metres wide. These villages developed out of the salt winning operations in the past.
Tongli was a much nicer place, smaller and more spacious. We had a beautiful afternoon
tea and beer taking with Tony on a table on the river shore with the
albatros fishers boat. Tony is from 1988, full of questions and interested in the 'wisdom' of the two old bearded guys. He is also full of stories. His father is 55, he was 17 when the Cultural revolution broke out, so could not finish university. He was sent out to work in the field for three years. There he met his wife, they married and fled the camp back to Shanghai. Women were killed forwearing a wrong thing. His father is a traditional flute player and music teacher now.
