Well our mysterious, but excellent (mostly!) committee (weta) had sensibly arranged a late morning start - as they did throughout the week - and a lovely little (a relative term in Myrtle Beach examples) course called Possum Trot which was more or less 'over the road' from our house.

The weather was a tad overcast and cloudy which discouraged exposing our white legs to the cold breeze and some of us wore a sweater.  Hardly the Carolina we know and love, but a lovely day for golf in almost any part of the UK.  We arrived there in time to sample the restaurant lounge and even had time to hit some balls to loosen-up those jet-lagged muscles!
The course, was beautifully manicured and laid-out with the holes within reach(eventually) of most of us, with quick'ish greens and tricky enough to require some thought in the second - for some of us, the third or even fourth - shot to the green on at least the Par 4s.  The course was fairly quiet and we processed around without any pressure, rush or concern about other players.  The major concern as always was wondering when the 'Bird with the Buds' would appear again!
The sun intermittently shone without being 'Carolina hot' and it was a perfect start to the week.
As the house was only 10 minutes or so away, we returned there for a shower and a slurp or two before attacking the Sports Bar, which was within a 10 minute walk, again.  Of course the risk with this strategy was that we would become 'too comfortable' which we did and in fact this was also true for the rest of the week.  Sadly the weather was not conducive to a BBQ and volunteers to act as cooks, thinned as the beer, wine, chips(crisps), cheese and nuts took hold.  So what - we were on holiday!
