Had a wonderful breakfast in the hotel - I have never seen such a spread.  Evidently there are numerous oriental tourists because there is a whole section of the buffet with chinese food.  The weather is beautiful today.  We met everyone at 10 a.m.for a tour of the castle and Old Town.  Hradcany Castle is a hugh complex of fortifications as well as the Gothic Cathedral of St. Vitus, a royal crypt and Treasury, and many impressive rooms.  The Abbey of St. George has a hugh sculpture collection and the quaint Golden Lane has 16th century cottages that supposedly once housed alchemists.  To the west of the Castle, the National Gallery has the city's finest art collection.  The Mala Strana quarter at the foot of the Castle is characterized by beautiful palaces, a baroque garden and the domed interior of the Church of St. Nicholas as well as historic houses lining the street.  It is still unbelievable to us that Prague only became the capital of the Czech Republic in 1993.

We then crossed the river and walked around the old city to reach the Old Town Square.  One of the tourist highlights, beside all the old wonderful buildings, is it's famous astronomical clock.  It rings on the hour and many parts move to strike the hour.  After coffee, we walked the streets and found a great place for lunch.  My stew was wonderful.

By this time we were tired so decided, for the first time in 12 days, to head back to the hotel and take a nap.  Met friends for drinks at the bar and then headed out for dinner.  Had wonderful czech food and we ate like mad, but they do have a tendency to serve a lot.  Walked off our dinner and then headed back to the hotel.
