Took the train from Budpest to Brno (about 4 hours).  The Fulbright group arranged a very nice reception at an Abbey in Old Brno.  They arranged a private concert in the basilica which was absolutely amazing.  The rains came and it has finally cooled down.

Brno is the 2nd largest city in Czech Republic with about 250,000 people.  Today we will take a tour of the city.

In case you are wondering why I have posted pictures of plants . . . The abbey was where Gregor Mendel (who was an abbot) did his work with plants and genetics.  These are pictures of the garden where he actually planted his peas which he studied.  There is a Mendel Museum attached to the Abbey.  There were not photos allowed in the basilica.

Group dynamics are really starting to take shape.  There are some definite personality conflicts on the horizon.  Arrive at the hotel to find some rooms had only one king bed and some had to share, others had two twins, and then there were 2 extra single rooms.  Wow, did this cause an issue.  Well, today we (my roommate and I got moved into a two bed room).  The next three weeks should be interesing.  i'm still just going with the flow and have tried not to annoy anyone too much -- avoiding the cliques, etc.  We will see how much longer i can be "nice".

Interesting to read about the group dynamics. Personalities really do start to show after a couple of weeks, particularly when people are weary from travel, heat, and normal routine. I know that you'll "stay nice."

Hang in there. If someone can't get along with you, they can't get along with anyone! You're one of the most accepting someone for who they are people. If things get to the pont where YOU can't be "nice", then just stand up for what you believe:-)! Even Jesus kicked the hypocrites out of the temple!
