Off to Tijuana visiting the family that I lived with for a year after graduating from college. For the first time, Diana and I entered a part of Mexico that is my second home and an unexplored region for her. After participating in all five of the 15 años, i wanted the family to meet Diana and also receive their blessing to get married. Plus, our mission is to make sure that at least part of the family sends representatives to the wedding in Oaxaca.
From the moment that we left running from my cousin Mike's apartment in Chicago to make our flight to landing and finding Angelo in the San Diego airport, I remembered the adventures of making border runs with 2 tons of bread in a 1 ton weight limit van with Adam and Angelo. We went to communities in the hills of Baja California delivering supplies and food. These memories left a positive mark in my life and represent my first attempts of speaking Spanish.
Diana and I left all the craziness of planning for two weddings and preparing to move out of the country for a week

SEE YOU IN OAXACA!!!Despues de compartir con nuestras familias la decision de casarnos, a Derek y a mi solo nos faltaba visitar a Lili y su familia en Tijuana para recibir su bendicion y pedirles que nos acompañaran a nuestra boda. Lili y familia han sido para Derek como su segunda familia. Para mi fue muy importante conocerlos y compartir con Derek este momento.
Vivimos momentos muy divertidos; nuestra visita fue una sopresa para la familia que no hubieramos logrado sin la ayuda de Claudia (gran amiga de la familia), jugamos partidos de fut y claro! ganamos las mujeres, preparamos carne asada, vimos peliculas y platicamos historias de miedo, sin olvidar que hasta nos tocó la graduación de Anita de la secundaria, todo fue diversión.
Nos despedimos de la familia con un hasta luego y sobre todo con su bendición para el inicio de nuestra vida juntos.
