Where I stayed
Had a great time hanging out with everyone. Later that evening Reggie cooked up some fajitas and we all chowed down. Then a thunderstorm came in and we all sat on the back and front patios to watch it.
The next morning the guys went to play golf in Elkhart, and the 3 gals relaxed while entertaining Case and Sophia
. We decided to go into Palestine to grab some lunch. Went to Don Mario's Mexican restaurant which was very tasty - excellent charro beans! Then back to Tara's house. Kelly finished golfing, so then we got back on the road. We drove over Lake Palestine, and through Marshall, Shreveport, etc. on I-20. Decided we wanted Cajun food, but struck out on 2 restaurants that were closed on Sunday (Crawfish Hole 32 in Minden, LA and the Cajun Pot in Ruston, LA]. Ended up finding Ponchatoulas in Ruston which was pretty tasty. Went on down the road to Monroe, LA to stay in a Hampton Inn. We had stopped at a newer Hampton Inn in West Monroe, but it was about $25 cheaper to go on to the older Hampton Inn and it was very clean and nice.
Left Austin about 11:30am, stopped by Texas Honey Ham for a yummy club sandwich to eat on the road. Nice drive to Palestine, despite the slight "detour" we took through Tyler. Arrived at our cousins' house, where there was a one-year-old birthday going on. Wow, one-year-olds certainly have bigger parties than I remember! There were many family there, including Joe and Morgan from Shreveport with their new baby Cadence, Madeline from Temple, Casey and Megan from Austin, Hardy and Case from Fort Worth, Chris from Houston, and of course Rodolfo and Rachel and the birthday girl Sophia, and our hosts Tara and Reggie.
