Traveling traveling across the counrty from east to west you saw pretty much nothing the occassional house here and there but on the route we took ( highway ??) there was nothing just sand and shrubs and thats it,( I would not like to have broken down here like I did in Africa).
The travel into De Las Cuevas (The last town in the Andes before the boarder with Chile) once we got into the Andes was amazing as the views were astounding, everything is so so big and the colours so vibrant. I love the picture of the road traveling into no where as thats what it felt like, we were going to the ends of the earth
We stopped off at some points of note including the natural bridge used by the incas thousands of years ago. and a very small bridge that some very important general crossed thousands of troops over. To honest not sure why he chose this path as there was a perfectly good crossing point next door but anyway its very important to the Argentinians. We drove past Anconcagua which is the highest mountain in South America and as soon as I saw it it made me want to do a proper trek like Kili again. ( Tim whenever your ready buddy lets do this, I reckon we can do it in half the time . They reckon 2 weeks 7-10 days max buddy).
De Las Cuevas itself looked very run down, with many things actually closed with broken windows, Im not sure if they had just shut down for the low season, but I was very impreessed that they had a chocolatisery at in this place where the inhabitants couldnt have number more than 100 ( at the very most) more like 50. Anyway it was a cool place to visit as it really did feel like there was nothing else around ( thats because there wasnt) and you wondewr why people choose to live in such a remote place where im guessing everything much be difficult and expensive to get hold of.
It was really cool to go to such a remote place and the travel in and out was great and I should of expected the obligitory pan pipe music on the way out of the Andes into Mendoza which included such classics as dont cry for me Argentina and the titantc soundtrack.
Ps hope you enjoy the picture of the mini bus( it really tickled me, unfortunaley there was no one else I could share the joke with)
