July 29, 2008:

Today we took a speed ferry to Paros.  It only took about 45 minutes but we were all herded on like cattle and told to put out bags on the back of the boat.  I was sure that my bag would not exist when we arrived in Paros because my bag was on the top of the pile with no railing on the other side of it just ocean!  The ferry was set up like a plane with reclining seats, nothing like the BC ferries.  It has been very windy here and as a result the ride was pretty rocky and the water was hitting the windows as we went, so even if I had a bag it was probably soaked.

We arrived and our bags were covered in salt but they were present.  Our hostel here was much nicer than in Mykonos and we had our own bathroom and most importantly air conditioning...and yet it was cheaper??  I was sharing with a couple of girls I had been hanging out with so that was good.  We went on a walking tour of the town and learnt a bit of the history and similar to Mykonos everything is white and there are tons of shops and restaurant and all of the shop keepers stand on the street trying to convince you to come into their shop.  We had dinner at a restaurant on the harbour and watched the sunset.

July 30, 2008:

We had the option of purchasing a boat tour around some of the hot spots in Paros including lunch.  Most of us went on the boat and because there were so many of us we actually had the bought to ourselves.  The water was still pretty choppy but it was a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky.  Our first stop was a secluded beach/cove with crystal clear water.  We jumped off the boat into the water and the crew prepared a bbq lunch for us.  We had souvlaki and greek salad... the best Greek food I've ever had!  We swam and baked in the sun for a while and then headed on to another cove.  This cove was actually a place to cliff jump into the water.  There were little caves under the cliff.  For some reason I decided it would be a good idea to climb up to the top to check it out.  Unfortunately once you get up there, the only way down is to jump.  It was about 15 meters high and it hurt a little when you hit the water but I did it!!  We swam a bit around here and then headed to the next beach.  The ride was very rough and the waves were large and we all got completely soaked.  Each time we hit a waver the water covered the entire boat luckily it was warm water.  We found out when we got back that the ferries had actually been cancelled today because it was too rough on the water and yet we were in a little fishing boat attempting to cruise through the water!!  Our last stop was a beach where there were caves again and more tanning!

We all went out for dinner and then to a really nice cocktail bar on the beach.
