Another foreign airport... another successful flight!  I am getting very used to figuring things out in these airports.  I know where to look for the universal "i" for information and "WC" for toilet.  Very useful when there are masses of people not interested in helping you find your way around.

I arrived in Athens around 3pm and caught the bus to the metro and took yet another metro in another city!  I arrived at the stop on my directions but couldn't find the exit I was to leave the station from.  I just picked one and luckily I had grabbed a map at the airport.  I wandered a bit to find the street that the hostel was on.  I've never been so thankful to get my backpack off.  It was about 35 degrees and I was wearing jeans!! (It was cold in Vienna).

I really only had one night in Athens because I doubt I will get any touring in the day I fly to Venice.  I walked done towards the Acropolis through the very narrow busy streets of Athens.  There were stray dogs and cats everywhere.  All I wanted to do was pet them but they all have so many diseases I refrained.  It did make me miss Spencer but apparently he has a new friend and probably won't want him  to leave when I get home!! There are so many restaurants and shops and everyone trying to sell you there merchandise.  It is hard to get away from them.  I walked up the huge hill to the Acropolis and unfortunately I didn't have much time to explore.  A lot it was under construction but it is unbelievable how old the structures are and the view was spectacular.  Not really what you expect Greece to look like but still beautiful.  I guess the islands are where everything is white with blue accents.  It is very hot here and thus very brown quite a change, but a welcome change, from the lush green raining other countries I have visited.
