Today has been dominated by the weather. It snowed by surprise this morning leading the boys to go crazy collecting as much as they could from their balcony and either throwing it or piling it up in various places, including the fridge.

Unfortunately by about 9:30 the snow had turned to rain and continued that way for the rest of the day. Given that neither Nicholas nor Hannah had suitable shoes for wet weather, we decided that shoe shopping was the order of the day. We also made a brief stop at the National Portrait Gallery, since it was close. I had a suspicion that this was probably the last place in Washington you would want to take children. My suspicion proved correct.

Tonight we visited (ex RBA staffer) Tim Callen and family for dinner. Good to catch up, trade cricket barbs and hear about family friends who formerly played basketball with the Ulverstone Redhoppers (and socially with the guy whose house we visited yesterday).
