Wow what a trip.

We boarded our train in Rome and were suppose to arrive in Nice at 8 pm last night. The first part of our trip went without any problems. Coen was very surprise that the trains were so on time in Italy. We booked a first class coach and all was honky dory. In Genoa we were to change trains. We had 2 hours, so we dumped our lugage and went into the city. Genoa is beautiful, what a shame we didn't have more time! Ancient buildings that should be visited but we were on a mission to get to France. Back at the station we worked out where to go only to hear that our train was delayed. We found a (pretty cold) waiting room and sat patiently. Other travellers tried to work out when and where the trains would come and although 85 minutes late, we were not too worried. That was until a girl told us that we were going to be changed over to busses at the French border, the French Train people were on strike. Our train did not have the coach we were suppose to be in so we just plonked on some seats in first class. The train was now no longer an intercity so we stopped in every dump between Italy and France. At the border we had to go into busses. Thank god for the Vodafone miracle: Elisah's phoen decided to find a network so I could ring our appartment and tell the people there we would be late.

All's well that ends well. We managed to find an asian restaurant when we arrived in Nice, we ate and took a taxi to our hotel (this guy totally ripped us off but we didn't care anymore hahaha).

Today we picked up our rental car. A brand spanking new Peugeot 307 stationwagon (7.7 km on the odometer!!). We went to Monaco/ Monte Carlo. Walked around the port and gazed at the boats. O my o my, still have a little work to do before we can keep up with those Jones'.

We had another awesome day. The kids were craving vitamins so Lis and I went to  a supermarket and I cooked a very healthy meal tonight. Now that we have our car we can carry loads of fruit around, so we bought heaps,

Tomorrow we are off to Nimes, see more ancient sights. On the way we are going to Cannes and every other place that looks good.

We are having the amazing holiday that we were hoping for. Europe is so different now we don't live here anymore. We love it.

Don't forget to have a look at our photo's

A bientot!
