Buenos dias! (it's Devon)
Well when we last left you, we were on our way to the Guggenheim in Bilbao. We saw two main exhibits there -one of Yves Klein's work, another of Michaelangelo's drawings, as well as the architecture of the museum itself, kind of an exhibit on its own. All in all a very interesting place, made all the more interesting by the codeine-induced effects of the cough medicine we took on our way there. haha.
Yesterday we arrived in Pamplona, the city known for the running of the bulls. Seeing as it is very off season right now, we weren't really expecting any major hoopla from this place. Upon arriving however, we got the sneaking suspicion that something was up. For some reason, and it continues to be a mystery, all the kids were dressed up in full costume - spiderman, pirates, bulls.....we didn't get it, but we loved it
This afternoon we hit the streets and were met once again by another group of parade loving people. These ones were dressed in more clown-like attire. My favorite being this guy wearing a toucan headpiece. Sigh, if only I had more space in my bag.
Our mission for tonight: find out what the heck is going on around here. We'll see how far "Que pasa" gets us.
Tomorrow we say adios to Spain, as we head to France.
Hope this finds you all doing well.
Talk to you soon!
Bisous

being studious in front our our fav Cafe
! Pamplona's love of costume continued deep into the night as well. While out for a walk, Sarah and I noticed a large group of adults, wearing some sort of traditional costume involving beret-like hats, carrying musical instruments, lanterns, and baskets of money. All of a sudden they began marching in a parade-like fashion across the main square. Naturally, Sarah and I joined right in, eager to see where the parade would lead us. And what a journey it was. We trekked all of 200 metres, before stopping in front of a bar. Noticing the money collectors heading our way with their baskets, we quickly ran away. As it turned out, not a moment too soon, because the group then burst into song, before parading off to the next bar. Just another typical friday night in Pamplona? Who knows. This afternoon we hit the streets and were met once again by another group of parade loving people. These ones were dressed in more clown-like attire.
