FINALLY!! We're in Wyoming. We just have about another 300 miles to go before we get to Rock Springs. We were all hungry, including the Uhaul, so we stopped in Cheyenne. I was excited to see such a famous place. As few of you might know, it's not only in songs but it's a huge stop on the PBR (Pro Bull Riding) tour, and, sadly, the very place where Lane Frost (8 Seconds) was killed. I was expecting a little more for this to be such a well known place. There wasn't much at all where we stopped. Oh well, that just added to the charm. By this point, everywhere you look it's apparent you're really in the west...and I'm lovin it!! We get gas, go to Burger King, Flash eats Will's burger and we're on the road again. It was late and, unfortunately, not far into Wyoming it got too dark to take pictures. Flash was asleep...of course. I was asleep...of course. Will was chugging coffee and No-Doze trying to stay awake. He woke me several times and tried to get me to talk to him. Those of you who have traveled with me know how that goes. I even got coffee to try and keep myself awake but the warm liquid just eased me right to sleep. I even suggested that he call his boss, explain and get a room for the night. Nope, wasn't going to happen! In his words, we were too close...Will was on a mission!! And, before long, I was asleep again. Finally, about 100 miles or so from Rock Springs he begged me to talk to him...he was asleep too. I woke up and turned the air on full blast as cold as it would go...didn't do much good but it helped. I managed to stay awake and even perked up the closer we got to Rock Springs. He showed me the exit he takes to work and the one for the airport. The miles were ticking by. Finally, Rock Springs, next 3 exits...we were on the first!! We take our exit and there's the sign that tells population. This small town Will said is the size of Pikeville (6,000 people) has 18,000 people. Somebody can't count!! Oh well, we're here!! By the time we pull into our driveway it's 12:30 am Rock Springs time (2 hours behind eastern Ky). He has to leave for work at 4:30 and we still haven't picked up his truck from the airport and we needed to go to Wal-Mart to get the animals settled in. I finally talked him into taking my car to work and leaving his at the airport. Well, that just didn't work. He remembered his boots and everything he needed for work the next day was in his truck. So, here we go,again. We leave the house head to Wal-Mart to find them closed. He swore they were open 24 hours before he left (found out later, they were never open 24 hours) Oh well, on to the airport. It hits me when we're sitting beside his truck that I'm gonna have to drive home in this strange town on my own...well, following him. We head on back home and by the time we get there and get him into bed it's after 1:30am. He got maybe 2 hours of sleep in less than 24 hours and still got up and went to work for 12 hours...love his heart!! I got up with him to see him off then I went back to bed. When I got up later that day I headed back to Wal-Mart, stocked up on things we needed to make the house a home instead of a bachelor pad and took some pictures around town. Since then all has been peaceful. Will has caught up on his sleep. Flash is back to his old, goofy self. As for me, I'm unpacking, setting up the house and cooking...yes, believe it, I'm cooking!! As they say, all's well that ends well don't ya know!!
