we were planning for some trip outside bangalore for last few months and finally this materialised. initially we thought of going to dandeli but after talking to forest officials there we came to know that we cant go that place for next 1 month and nobody was in mood to wait for next 1 month .so next option was mangalore. my friend told me that the rains have receded and we though this best time to go there. and all these things happened in few hours.i looked for availablity in newly introduced bangalore mangalore day was on waiting list and that too on weekday.good to see that !...and somehow it got confirmed and we were to go .
it was new train with all coaches with 2009 make.  there were lot of young people like us expecting some views on way to mangalore. the train left sharp at 7 30 am from yeshwanthpur headed by a WDG3A of was good run till tumkur covering some 70 kms in less than an hour and halted there for nearly 30 minutes.i thought there could be some problem due to last week's good train accident near tiptur.train started at around 9 and after crossing in small station reached tiptur at around 10 . and again stopped there for another 20 minutes now i realised something had gone expected the engine had major problem and spare engine had to be called from arsikere which was WDM 3A .after engine reversal in arsikere we left at 12 pm ...a full 1 hour late.

after 2 hours we were in sakleshpura.two more WDM3A's were added at front and we were ready to roll.all the doors were "reserved" by people from hassan itself!!!!!some 2 to3 people standing at all doors with cameras!!! and somehow we managed to capture a door after some 15 minutes into ghats . the western ghats were amazingly green after heavy rains. the land was so covered with grass that we couldn even make out the colour of sand there .slowly we started to move into dense fog.we couldn even make out things few metres ahead!!! there were innumerable waterfalls on the way .lots of small streams flowing and some amazing colourful butterflies.the train moved dead slow not crossing more than 25 kmph.the route has 58 tunnels and 109 bridges built in deep gorges.donigal is first station from sakleshpur followed by yedakumeri and shirabagilu.we took 2.5 hours for 54 kms to reach subramanya road.

there was very heavy cover of clouds . some peaks of nearby mountains were not at all visible. travelling in train was an amazing experience. this is one of best ghat railways i have travelled in india. it also beats briganza ghats between kulem and castle rock. there were lot of people on tracks doing some repair work.trains stops all the station in the ghats .we had some amazing photos of yedakumer station .i couldn believe place like that existed in karnataka. the clouds there gave a feeling of being in himalayas!!! . we had some amazing buns and bondas in subramanya road station .after bankers were removed we had an amazing run till mangalore central reaching destination at 7 pm .what a surprise it was indeed!!!! 120 rs full paisa vasool!!!

took 3 bed room in hotel dhanyavaad for 450 for 4 people per day in hampanakatta circle.after freshening up had dinner in tajmahal hotel and had some amazing icecreams in IDEAL icecream parlour .this shop deserves the hype given by my friend .the strawberry flavour was just awesome!!!!!and that was the end of day .....

next day we had local sight seeing of mangalore with mangala devi temple, gokarnanatha temple, pilikula gardens and tagore park which has light house. we went to panambur beach which was very empty due to rains which were there whole day and fortunately stopped by evening .played a lot in beach and came to back to hotel to end the day

next day we left to dharmasthala . the road till BC road was so bad that we were literally flying sitting in last row of seats. the driver whatsoever had no concern to people sitting and was ripping like some bandits were chasing him!!!!.after 3 hours in queue had darshan of manjunatha and after sacred lunch we went to bahubali statue. we got a bus to subramanya reached subramanya in 6 in evening .we were lucky till then that it was raining the whole day and it stopped only when we came out !!!! when we were in bus or in queue it used to rain heavily!!!! but now we ran our of luck and there was heavy rains after we finished this sacred dinner so heavy that we got scared the bridge just after subramanya would get overflown and we would have stay overnight at subramanya only!!!!somehow rains stopped and our bus passed the bridge safely in which water was only less than 1 feet below in evening  and we reached bangalore safely on october 3 morning 5 30 in bangalore
