We arrived in Pinang Malaysia after a long journey by minibus then coach then a ferry and finally minibus, left at 0630 and arrived at 2130, partly because people use it as a Visa Run which is leaving Thailand for a night and then renewing visa and going back the next day, trouble was a couple had misread their visa and it had run out a month before and cost them 600 fine which took them a while to raise. Eventually arrived via the bridge which connects Pinang to the mainland and stretches a few km booked in our guesthouse in the old part of Georgetown in a street called Love Lane!
Had breakfast today which is free and gorgeous choice of noodles curry veg fresh fruit etc needless to say i had seconds oh no thirds and some.
Went exploring and as usual went off in wrong direction but then by chance found out they have free busses around the old town stopping at all the famous sites so saves a lot of legwork and they stop anywhere. Really hot and sticky here and such a contrast everywhere with old and new beside each other and we are bang in the middle of the old. Visited the museum, Fort Cornwallis and saw many famous landmarks ended up on the sea front and managed to avoid Little India but on the list for tomorrow.
Plenty of street food and so many styles here with Malay, Indian and Chinese so spoilt for choice, guess we had better try it all .
