It rained hard all night and it was raining as we got up and about. However, the wind wasn't that strong so there was room for hope and for a decision to make our way to Bradwell in the rain, should we wish to.
By 13:00 I was sufficiently twitchy to warrant going. Actually, my reasoning was sound, in that if we were going to have some bad weather, it would be better for us if we were on a marina pontoon, with shore access and power for the boat, so it was worth the discomfort of getting to Bradwell. As it happens, decision made and waterproofs donned, the rain stopped and we had dry weather all the way! In fact, the wind direction was such that we were even able to sail some of the way.
Bradwell Marina is situated just west of the imposing Bradwell nuclear power station, so it is not hard to find. We were tied up safely on the pontoon by 17:00. We then had the bright idea of inviting Rosemary to join us in the pub for dinner, which she did with alacrity and we had a good meal in the Green Man, a couple of hundred yards from the marina. I was very satisfied with the decision to leave Brightlingsea, I knew that we could stay here for as long as we liked, in perfect safety and now there was a pub nearby with Green King IPA and Adnams beers on tap - heaven!
