As we suspected, the film was not that special. The local populace must have felt the same, as the total audience was only about 10 people, most of them under 14! In the film's defence, that night it was the Celtic vs some Russian team in some final or other so most people would have been at home.
Enough of Wednesday, now on with Thursday, apart from a brief mention of the howling easterly wind all night. Again we were pleased to be on a pontoon.
We started the day with a shower in the local swimming pool. We were staggered to be charged £3.00 each and when I ascertained that a swim, in the fabulous new infinity pool was only £2.80, (including a shower), it was even more staggering!
Our plan that day was to travel northwards up the channel between Arran and the Mull of Kintyre and to pick up a mooring in Loch Ranza on the NE corner of Arran. It was a NE wind so we had to motor sail up the channel, commencing at 11:15. It was warm with intermittent sunshine and we had quite a pleasant journey of 23 miles, picking up the mooring at 16:00.
As it was breezy and sunny on the mooring, we decided to set up our 'conservatory' ie the canvas and clear plastic awning that encloses the cockpit and instantly transforms it into a pleasant, warm space, whatever the wind. Dinner on board and then a fairly early night. We love sleeping on a mooring, the boat moves with the wind and waves and yet one feels utterly secure, a great feeling.
