But the truck is still not right...
For many years we thought that some day we would visit this park - and it's finally some day! Words fail me as we crane our necks this way and that, constantly finding beautiful views to feast upon. We're camping on Lake McDonald, which is crowded but quiet. Lots of older folks like us, now that school is in session. Can't tow the pop-up through the park, lots of tight turns and narrow cliff-hugging roads, some road construction and one-lane-only stretches. As we climb ever higher on Going-to-the-Sun Road (what a great name!) we enjoy the sunshine, which has been a constant during this last week. The lake and beach beckon, and we swim and lay around doing nothing, drinking mate and thinking about dinner. Finally feel totally relaxed and lazy. A cheerful old gent named Chuck comes to visit our campfire and plays some old rock tunes on the guitar, with eyes hinting at a lifetime of good memories. Meeting interesting folks is part of what this trip is all about, and we are glad to meet him and share some stories.
