Jeff,Tiffany and Madden are back home in Lethbridge and Jeff has been "training a trainer" to work with him. He also works with the Kineseology department at the University of Lethbridge and the students who are studying body movement. His full-time job is training his body to regain what it lost in the accident.
He can now transfer himself from wheelchair to exercise table and back, to floor and back and from couch to floor and back to the wheelchair again. He also does as many as 100 sit-ups per workout.
As strength in his legs and upper body increase, he finds it easier to stand, squat and take small steps.
Check out the videos at the bottom of the page to see brief glimpses of his daily workouts at Project Walk. Sorry about the "sideways" ones- tried everything to tip them the right way, to no avail! You might have to tip your computer to view them properly!
Jeff says that his training at Project Walk has gained him a new freedom and he is even able to make meals in their ultra-modern kitchen. He is able to get in and out of a regular car and use a regular wheelchair if needed. However, he still often prefers to ride in the specially equipped van and wheel around in his power chair as it offers greater speed and maneuverability. His increased freedom has also allowed Tiffany more freedom to consider going to work.
We have a small amount of funds still left in our trust account and hope to be able to send him back to Project Walk for one more session. From all indications, this would allow him to be able to be mobile enough to walk with the aid of a walker and spend much less time in a wheelchair.
When we think of the progress he has made with your generous help, it is so heart-warming- a huge leap from a former athlete sentenced by doctors to a helpless life in a wheelchair, to the determined man we see in these videos and photos!
