We made it to Phuket roughly around 10PM and we headed to our resort. We kicked it up a notch here. Frank found a resort on the beach for roughly 35 bucks pp. Not too shabby since we were paying more than that for the hostels in Europe last year. It is paradise here! The resort is so nice, right across from the beach. We have our own bungalow, high class for our cheap asses! It a nice room with a large bathroom. We no longer have to shower over a toilet while fighting with the shower curtain. We went out for a cocktail the evening we arrived and then headed back to the room.

The next day, we booked massages and facials. I love how everything is so cheap here. For roughly 40 bucks, we got a facial and a massage. Amazing, I know. It was a rather odd massage though. They have no shame. I felt a little violated at times. We headed to the beach after wards. It was overcast, but I still got some sun. It is so hot here. It gets up to around 85 degrees during the day and doesn't get much cooler at night. That evening, we went out to dinner and hit up Bangla Rd. This place feels like spring break! It's bar after bar after bar. We went to an Aussie bar where it was loaded with hot men. The beer is cheap - a little over $3 for a beer. Not too bad considering you pay almost double that in Chicago. After a good buzz, we headed to the bar next door that said "Welcome to Soi Easy. Air Conditioned Bars with Pretty Girls that Make You Feel Free and Friendly." It was a big dance club. We had a drink and soaked it all it. There are so many older men here with young Thai girls. You can tell that the ones with the fat, older, ugly men are thinking "not another fatty." They have the look of disgust on their faces. I wonder how much they make a night for their "service"? I see them the next morning at the hotel for breakfast, so I know what is going on.

The next day, we took a tour out to Phi Phi island to see where the movie The Beach was filmed. We were put on a big speed boat with about 15 Russians. There were not the nicest people I have ever met. It was a bumpy ride out there. We sat in the front and I swear we were almost thrown out of the boat a few times. A few bumps hurt. Nathan and Frank were sitting on their feet but soon learned that was not the best position. Our first stop was monkey beach. We were there for about 20 minutes feeding monkeys. Again, they are not the friendliest animals so I gave them a banana and stepped back quickly. After the monkey beach, we saw the Viking Cave. Apparently, 5 people live in this cave and catch some sort of fish that the Chinese swear makes you younger and they pay good money for it. We then headed to a lagoon to swim since felt like a sauna. It was yet another overcast day, but it was a hot one! We swan for a bit and then made our way to the beach where they filmed The Beach. I must live under a rock because I have never heard of this movie, but they promised it is famous. We were at Maya Beach for about an hour, just roaming around and playing in the clear water. Next, we went snorkeling at this amazing coral reef. There were so many beautiful and exotic fish, as well and amazing coral. We were only there for about 40 minutes. Finally, it was lunch time. We went to this other beach where we had a little buffet. I am so over Thai & Chinese food. They had some chicken wings which we ate up. It started to pour down rain during lunch. Fantastic. It had let up by the time we headed back to the boat. This is when I started to really dislike the Russians. Obviously, the front of the boat was soaked where we were sitting because it wasn't covered. We're not idiots so we moved to the inside part of the boat and I guess we sat in one couples seat. They were not happy. I was equally not happy that they forgot to put on deodorant that morning and that the older, fat man was sporting a speedo. We sat there and rode until our next stop, some other beach. As soon as we got up, the couple moved their stuff onto our seats as to claim them again. This angered me. It's not like we were cramped for room. There was plenty of space for everyone. I starting yelling out some profanities hoping that they didn't know English. They didn't or at least pretended not to. I am sure they were saying the same things about us in Russian. We were only at this beach for a short time and then headed back.

We were exhausted once we got back, but of course we were hungry. So, we cleaned up and went out to dinner. Frank REALLY wanted to go out. He said "we are only on holiday once. We can't be here and not go out to Bangla Rd." Nathan was adamant on not going out. I took one for the team and Frank & I hit up the bars. We found the Lady Boys! These ladies (formally men) are beautiful. Even the lady boys are prettier than me, grrrr. We sat down at a bar, not expecting what would come next. All of a sudden, this lady boy gets up on the bar and starts dancing. We notice that she is not wearing panties. I saw her scars from where she has surgery. I have officially seen it all! These older Italian men sat down beside us and were eating "her" up! They all had on wedding rings, which made me want to gag. They were all making out with "her", taking pictures...she did some inappropriate things which made Frank squirm - you know it's bad when that happens! We soaked it in for awhile. I started talking to one of the men and told them I was going to Bangkok on Thursday. He said "no". I reaffirmed that yes, I was going there. His English wasn't great but I got that he said the airport was closed. I was confused. Frank and I headed back to the hotel and checked CNN. Sure enough, BKK was closed. Great. Oh well - we thought it would clear up before we head home.
