Our last day in KL, we ventured to the Batu Caves. They are the sacred place for the Hindu's in Malaysia. They consist of three main caves and a number of smaller ones. The caves are made of limestone and 400 meters long and 100 meter high. They were discovered in 1892. We climbed the 272 steps to the top, which houses the religious and magnificent Batu Caves.
Nathan told me that there would be monkeys there. I was skeptical at first, but then saw a whole bunch of them on the climb to the top. they basically attack you, going for peanuts and bananas. I saw one monkey literally grab a guys bag and run off with a banana. They are fearless. You can't pet them because they will bite you. They are mean little suckers.
We got to the top and it was breathtaking. It is this amazing cave at the top. The lime stones are beautiful and very tall. There is also greenery at the top, which houses all these little monkeys. They are everywhere inside as well. I also saw a chicken up there too, which is pretty random. While I was taking pictures of all these little vicious animals, Nathan and Frank walked away. One of my biggest fears is getting separated. We have no cell phones so there is now way of getting ahold of one another. I saw them on the second level so I walked down. They walked ahead of me and I lost them at the bottom. I walked around for a few minutes and finally found them. Crazy bitch Denise came out. Traveling with 2 gay men on their own agenda can be exhausting. It's not cool to leave someone behind. We separated the rest of the afternoon until our flight later that evening. I had a lovely afternoon drinking beers on a few patios, going to an internet cafe and of course, hitting up the market and haggling. I am really going to miss this haggling when I go back. We feel like you get such a deal, when in reality I know they are saying "sucker" as I walk away.
We met up later that evening and I finally cooled off. We made our way to the airport in the 90+ degree weather with our large backpacks. My have they grown will all the shit we have bought! We made it to the airport where I realized by bag has grown by nearly 5 pounds. It doesn't sound like a lot, but when you are carrying all the weight on your back, it's fricking heavy! Mine weighs the most, which still puzzles me. I suppose I am a terrible packer. I need to spread the love between my 2 bags. It was a short flight to Phuket, roughly 1 hour. Finally, it was time for the beach!
